Fundamental Values

The human touch

Spotify searches on the topic of “core values” threw up several pleasing tracks: Justice’s Groove by Stanley Clarke, Compassion by the Dalai Lama, and Fundamental Values by Nils Frahm were particularly enjoyable. I could have chosen any of those for this blog post, but (as you can see) I plumped for the ethereal solo keyboard performance from Frahm, the German composer and producer.

Nils Frahm had an early introduction to music, learning the piano throughout his childhood. It was through this that Nils began to immerse himself in the styles of classical pianists from previous generations as well as the music of contemporary composers, before forging his own musical path through composition.

His unconventional approach to an age-old instrument, played contemplatively and intimately, … has won him many fans around the world. Nils has gained global notoriety for his highly developed sense of control and restraint in his work, as well as a breath-taking level of emotion and personality.

In Fundamental Values, Nils mixes traditional acoustic piano with electronic keyboards and drum beats to create peaceful atmospheric sounds that slow the universal clock to an ambling pace. It takes us back to the Garden of Eden and looks forward to a paradise regained. It’s a promise that the fundamental human values of justice and compassion will bring us a brighter future.
