It’s been a hectic time in Crotchety Land for the last few weeks. Old Man Crotchety has done little other than move his 92-year-old father into a retirement apartment, and it’s proved to be much more burdensome than anyone could have imagined. Quite apart from the unbelievable mass of belongings in his old house (see previous post) and the anticipated upheaval of the move itself, we have had to cope with a very poorly new resident. Crotchety Man Senior is now OK, but recovering only slowly and still needs a lot of help. So Junior is taking a short break from blogging. In the meantime, here’s a video of Jaimie “Breezy” Branch and her band performing Prayer for Amerikkka, Parts 1 & 2.
Sadly, Jaimie Branch died on 22nd August at the age of just 39, so this blog entry also serves as a message of condolence to all those who knew her. The piece in this video is a heartfelt cry of anguish – for America and for too many other places around the world. It provides a fitting outlet for Breezy Branch’s expressive trumpet playing and sends an uncompromising message to politicians and electorates everywhere. It’s not easy listening, but it needs to be said.
There’s a recent interview with Jaimie Branch on the CirdecSongs blog. You can find it here.
That’s quite an edgy piece! Good look with your Father. It’s a stressful phase for both of you isn’t it?

Thankfully, dad has picked up a lot in the last couple of days. He’s almost his usual self again. And that’s a big relief.
