As moons go, Earth’s is pretty big. Of the hundreds of moons in our solar system, only Ganymede, Titan, Callisto and Io are larger. But the members of The Big Moon band have their eyes on even bigger things – much bigger, in fact. They have brought the whole universe into our backyard, made an album about it and called it Here Is Everything. Or are they simply telling us to enjoy what’s all around us: the people, the places, the beautiful things we so often overlook?
The Big Moon is a four-piece, all-female band based in London. They play conventional indie pop/rock songs. There’s nothing exceptional about their compositions or their performances, they just do it rather well.
By way of illustration, here’s a live session with three tracks from the album: 2 Lines, This Love and Satellites.
The band was formed in 2014. They have released three albums to date: Love in the 4th Dimension (2017), Walking Like We Do (2020), and the aforementioned Here Is Everything (2022). The debut album was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize in 2016.
The Big Moon is a band on the rise. They are on tour in the U.K. now. If you want to catch them, everything you need to know is on their website, here.
